The accountant will support the monthly closing, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, statutory compliance, taxation, and finance operations of the Singapore entities. The role will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records, preparing financial and management reports, supporting the annual budgeting process and periodic forecasts, assisting with audits and tax filings, and driving process improvements to enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain relevant supporting schedules.
- Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and process monthly depreciation entries.
- Perform bank reconciliations and investigate and resolve reconciling items on a timely basis.
- Prepare balance sheet schedules and follow up on outstanding balance sheet items.
- Assist in the monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and year-end financial closing processes.
- Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, head office reports, and cash flow reports
- Support the preparation of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and business plans, including the collection, consolidation, and validation of financial information from business units.
- Assist in preparing budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual variance analyses and provide insights on key movements and performance drivers.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to monitor budget performance and support financial planning activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records, audit trails, and supporting documentation.
Statutory Reporting, Tax & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), the Companies Act, and applicable tax regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of corporate tax computations, tax returns, and statutory filings.
- Prepare and support GST return submissions and related reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, statutory requirements, and internal policies.
Intercompany & Treasury Support
- Prepare and follow up on intercompany transactions and outstanding balances, ensuring timely reconciliation and resolution.
- Assist in intercompany confirmations and reconciliations with related entities.
- Support cash flow monitoring and reporting activities.
Audit & External Liaison
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documents for internal and external audits.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and other professional advisors to address queries and facilitate timely completion of audits and filings.
- Coordinate the collection and submission of information required for audits and regulatory reviews.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, strengthen controls, streamline workflows, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Support finance system implementations, enhancements, data migration activities, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Assist in documenting finance processes and maintaining standard operating procedures.
Other Duties
- Provide support to ad hoc finance projects and business initiatives.
- Perform any other accounting and finance-related duties as assigned.
Requirements Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Accountancy, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting and finance experience.
- Experience in financial reporting, month-end closing, and statutory compliance.
- Prior experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 or other ERP/accounting systems will be an advantage.
Technical Competencies
- Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and month-end closing processes.
- Familiarity with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), GST requirements, and Singapore tax regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
