Job Description

As a Research Scientist, you'll setup large-scale tests and deploy promising ideas quickly and broadly, managing deadlines and deliverables while applying the latest theories to develop new and improved products, processes, or technologies. From creating experiments and prototyping implementations to designing new architectures, our research scientists work on real-world problems that span the breadth of computer science, such as machine (and deep) learning, data mining, natural language processing, hardware and software performance analysis, improving compilers for mobile platforms, as well as core search and much more. As a Research Scientist, you'll also actively contribute to the wider research community by sharing and publishing your findings, with ideas inspired by internal projects as well as from collaborations with research programs at partner universities and technical institutes all over the world.
In this role, you will join a specialized research group focused on optimization, machine learning, and better algorithms. Our team performs cutting-edge research to deliver solutions to fundamental computing challenges across Google's business. You will partner directly with Cloud Research and Development (R&D) and hardware teams to conduct state-of-the-art research aimed at dramatically improving AI system efficiency and integrating novel compiler optimizations into Google's core stack for current and future accelerators. Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
France: €130000 - €133000 (EUR) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

- Implement software functionality to transition compiler research concepts into practical implementations.
- Design new compiler optimizations and algorithms, and author research publications for academic venues.
- Contribute to specialized machine learning compiler frameworks, including EnzymeAD and Reactant.
- Contribute directly to upstream Multi-Level Intermediate Representation (MLIR) open-source projects.
- Execute code integrations from upstream MLIR into internal software repositories.
Qualifications Minimum qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience working with compilers and performance optimization.
- 4 years of experience programming in C++.
- 4 years of experience with research agendas across multiple teams or projects.
- One of more scientific publication submission(s) for conferences, journals, or public repositories (such as CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.).
Preferred qualifications:
- 2 years of experience in coding and leading multiple research efforts and influencing research direction.
- Experience in compiler research, with a track record of publications in academic venues.
- Experience with the MLIR framework and contributing to upstream open-source projects.
